How Does Water Tray Work?

The water tray of the refrigerator is generally installed at the bottom of the back of the refrigerator, in or above the compressor. The water tray of the refrigerator is often called a water storage box, which is mainly used to receive the water produced by the evaporator when the fan cooling refrigerator defrosts.

When the evaporator of the fan cooling refrigerator works, the moist air outside condenses into frost through the evaporator, which is then melted into water by the defrosting system and flows into the water tray. Because the compressor or the exhaust pipe will generate heat during operation, the melt water can be evaporated dry with the waste heat.

There is no water tray in the direct cooling refrigerator since the evaporator is generally embedded in the refrigerator shell to cool the air in the box through natural convection and heat conduction. Therefore, direct cooling refrigerators generally frost in the cabinet. If it is not cleaned regularly, it will affect the heat exchange and reduce the energy efficiency of the refrigerator.
